Add judges' scores to public votes

Let an academy and a board count alongside the public vote, with the formula declared first and scores shown apart.

Checked against Durbar on

Many awards aren't decided by votes alone. Judging lets you weigh the public vote against two panels, an academy and a board, while the vote count stays exactly what it is: votes and scores stay apart. Nothing in judging ever changes a vote.

Declare the formula

  1. Before voting opens, open the contest's Judging tab.
  2. Under The formula, switch on judges for each category that has them.
  3. Set Public vote %, Academy % and Board %. They start at 50, 20 and 30, and must add up to 100.
  4. Save the formula for that category.

The public page says so while people vote, such as Votes are one part of this result, with the split. Nobody can say afterwards that the rules moved.

Enter the panels' scores

Judges don't sign in to Durbar. Each panel agrees its result however it likes, and your team types in each nominee's share of that panel's 100%, to one decimal place. Then choose Save academy scores or Save board scores. You can change them until they're locked.

Lock and publish

  1. After voting closes, choose Confirm and lock scores. This needs a passkey, and can't be undone.
  2. After the announcement, choose Publish scores.

The contest page then shows how each category was decided: a table of each nominee's votes, public share, academy, board and final score. In a judged category the page calls the top of the vote count Most votes, never the winner.

The verify page's browser check doesn't compare published scores with what was locked. It shows a hash so anyone can do that by hand. If the count is private, the scores table doesn't show on the contest page.
