Award votes people pay for by MoMo, with a count anyone can check
Categories and nominees with codes to say on radio, paid votes by MoMo or card or free votes by SMS code, and every hour of votes sealed so the count can be checked.
How it works
Add categories and nominees
Photos, a few words and a short code each, or import them from a spreadsheet.
Choose paid or free
A price per vote and packs, or one free vote per phone in each category.
Publish and share
Every nominee has their own page and a link to share.
Show a count people trust
Live or at the close, with every hour sealed and every void explained.
Paid votes and free votes
Paid by MoMo or card
Set a price per vote and the packs people choose from. Voters pay on the nominee's page and get an SMS receipt; votes count once the payment is confirmed.
Free votes with an SMS code
A 6-digit code to the voter's phone, so each phone votes only as often as you allow in each category.
Codes to say on radio
Each nominee gets a short code, such as KO1, fixed once voting starts.
Limits, and what they can do
Set a limit per voter, held per phone and per card or wallet, with anything over it refunded. Phone numbers aren't checked, so treat it as a guide. Once voting opens, the price, packs and limits can't change.
A count anyone can check
Every hour sealed
Each hour's votes are sealed with a fingerprint that includes the hour before, so an earlier change would show. The nominee list is sealed in too, and every change after voting opens is listed.
Heads published and signed
Each new fingerprint is signed, added to a public feed and emailed to you, so a copy outside Durbar can show a later rewrite.
Checked in the browser
Anyone can open the contest's Verify the count page, check every seal, add up the votes and download the records.
Results when you choose
Live, when voting closes, or private. Results can be made more public later, never hidden again.
Suspicious buying flagged
Bursts from one phone or card, one card behind many phones, votes from your own team's numbers and spikes before the close are pointed out. Votes are voided only by you, with a public reason; a reversed payment comes off by itself, in public.
Coming soon
On the plan, not built yet.
Voting by USSD and WhatsApp
Coming soonFor voters without data or a smartphone. Today voting is on the web, on any phone.
Questions
Can I run an SRC election or an AGM vote on this?
No. Voting is for awards, pageants and audience polls. There's no voter roll and no secret ballot, and one phone isn't one person, so it can't stand behind a binding election.
What does it cost?
Free voting costs nothing. On paid votes Durbar takes 3% of each payment from your share, and Paystack takes its processing fee. Voters pay the price shown, with nothing added.
When do I get the money?
Paystack sends your share to your MoMo or bank account, usually the next working day. You need payouts set up before you can take paid votes.
How do people know the count is honest?
Every hour of votes is sealed, and the contest's Verify the count page lets anyone check the seals and add up the votes themselves.
