Erase someone's details

What to do when a guest or buyer asks you to remove them: what goes, what has to stay, and why.

Checked against Durbar on

If you bought a ticket, booked a space or were on a guest list, the organization behind it holds your details. Ask them first: their contact details are on their event, venue or contest page.

If someone asks you

  1. Open Settings and find Erase a person. It needs an owner or admin, confirmed with a passkey.
  2. Type Their phone number or email, and type it again.
  3. Choose Erase this person. It can't be undone. Durbar says how many records it changed.

What goes

Their name and contact details go from your guests, orders and their tickets, waitlists, gifts, rentals, bookings, Studio orders and vote payments. Messages waiting for them stop, and the words of messages already sent are cleared.

What stays

  • Sales and admissions stay, with no name on them, because tax and accounting law asks for those records.
  • Votes stay, because the public count depends on them. They hold no names.
  • A graduand stays on the congregation's list, without their contact details.
  • Your activity log records that someone was erased and who did it, not who it was.
It matches the exact phone or email, in your organization only. If a person gave you two, erase both. Someone named on a ticket another person bought is reached through the buyer's order, so check by hand.
