Sell reserved seats

Let buyers pick their seats on a map at checkout, or have Durbar choose the best seats together, and put the seat on the ticket.

Checked against Durbar on

Every event starts as general admission: people sit where they like. Reserved seating is for when the seat is part of what you're selling, such as a gala, a concert or a show. It comes with the Seating module, which you switch on in Settings.

Buyers see what's free, pick their seats and pay. Seats already sold can't be picked.

Choose how people get seats

  1. Open Seating in the menu and choose Open beside the event. Dinners, awards nights and events in a space with set-ups also offer Set up seating on the event's page.
  2. Under The room, start from a venue template, draw the room, or use a set-up from the space you booked. Then choose Activate on the plan.
  3. Under How people get seats, choose one.
  • General admission: no seats. People sit where they like.
  • You place people: you give out seats or tables, and people get theirs on the ticket.
  • Pick at checkout: buyers choose their own seats on the map.
  • Best available: Durbar chooses the best seats together.

The last two need a plan first, so there are seats to sell. Changing the choice later keeps every seat already given.

Decide which tickets sit where

Under Which tickets sit where, tick the blocks each ticket type can use, such as VIP at the front. Prices stay on your ticket types. Leave a block unticked and any ticket can sit there.

What the buyer does

  1. They choose how many tickets they want, as for any event.
  2. Under Choose your seats, they pick a Section, then seats from the Map or the List. The list does the same job for anyone who can't use the map. They can tick I need an accessible seat, and whoever they're buying for sits beside them.
  3. They pick one seat for each person. The button to pay or get tickets waits until every seat is chosen.
  4. They pay as usual.

With Best available, the page says We choose your seats, and the seats arrive with the tickets, next to each other where they can be.

Chosen seats are held for the 15 minutes the buyer has to pay, and go back on sale if they don't. If someone takes a seat first, the buyer is told Someone has just taken one of those seats. Choose another.

The seat on the ticket

Each ticket names its seat, and links to the way there.

Every ticket shows its seat, and Find my seat opens the plan with the way in. See Find your seat and walk to it.

Things to know

  • A Table of 10 ticket needs ten seats. Durbar doesn't tie it to one drawn table, so check them if the table matters.
  • If a payment arrives after a hold ran out, the buyer gets the best seat left. If none is left, they get a working ticket with no seat, and you're told to place them.
  • Door sales don't carry a seat. Keep some seats back, or place those buyers yourself.
  • A change to the plan reaches people only when you apply it.
  • Choose Open live view on the day to watch the room fill.
